How to catch them

Slow-trolling live bait

Rig: Wire stinger rig — single hook in the nose, treble stinger behind

Bait/lure: Live blue runners, pilchards or menhaden

Key tip: Troll barely in gear. Wire is mandatory — kings cut mono cleanly.

Trolling spoons and plugs

Rig: Large drone spoon behind a planer or trolling weight

Bait/lure: Silver and gold spoons, deep-diving plugs

Key tip: Vary depth with planers until you find where the strikes come.
