Why it matters
Wedgeport was the "Sport Tuna Fishing Capital of the World" in 1935β1960s and host of the International Tuna Cup; stopped in 1976 and revived in 2004 (22nd annual in 2026), fishing a 3,200 lb bluefin quota, with a post-revival record of 796 lb set in 2014.
