Chinese Labeo
Sinilabeo decorus
The Chinese labeo is a bottom-grazing cyprinid of mountain streams β a subspecies lives in the Xiangjiang and Dongting system, with others in the Pearl and Qiantang rivers. It is not on the national protected list, but as a Yangtze-basin key species under the Yangtze Protection Law, Yangtze natural waters are closed to fishing; target it in open Pearl and Qiantang waters and their streams, following local rules.

Corn and dough ledgering in streams River
Rig: Light ledger or running-sinker rig on a stream rod, small strong hook baited with corn or dough, cast into rocky runs
Bait/lure: Sweet corn, soft dough, rice-flour paste
Key tip: Keep the bait hard on the bottom in the current seam and use the lightest weight that holds.
Float fishing over rocky runs River
Rig: Stream float rig with fine line and small hook, trotted over rock and gravel runs so the bait grazes the bottom
Bait/lure: Corn kernels, small dough pellets
Key tip: Set the float so the bait just ticks the rocks β that is exactly where the labeo feeds.
