Large Yellow Croaker

Larimichthys crocea

The large yellow croaker of the Yellow Sea — 참조기. Once the region's most famous food fish; the wild stock has collapsed and is listed by IUCN as Critically Endangered. Important rules note — they differ by country: in China the wild population is a national class-II protected animal — fishing is banned and accidental catches must be released. In Korea this species has no legal protection, and West Sea charter fishing around Gyeokryeolbiyeoldo is real; however, most Korean catches are young 부세, and releasing juveniles is the responsible practice.
