Sargo
Anisotremus davidsonii
A deep-bodied grunt of Southern California reefs and harbours, marked by one dark bar at mid-body. Name warning: in Spain and Europe 'sargo' means the white seabream (Diplodus sargus), a different fish β this page is the California sargo. It picks crabs and shrimp off structure and is a popular light-tackle panfish.
