Sebastiscus tertius
A small Sebastiscus rockfish relative of the south and Jeju reefs — 열기. It sits over rock and mixed ground and is mostly taken as bycatch during rockfish trips. The genus is familiar in Korea — the larger 쏨뱅이 (Sebastiscus marmoratus) is the famous one. No established English common name exists; the scientific name is used as the display name.

How to catch them
Boat bottom fishing over reef Boat
Rig: Bottom rig with shrimp on small hooks fished from a boat over 30-100 ft reef
Bait/lure: Shrimp pieces
Key tip: It sits in cover — let the rig rest on the rock and give the tiny bite time to develop.
Drift fishing while targeting rockfish Boat
Rig: Light bottom rig with fish strips drifted over reef edges during rockfish sessions
Bait/lure: Small fish strips
Key tip: Many of these little fish come as incidental catch — return the small ones so the reef stocks stay healthy.
