Saltwater · Summer peak June-September in warm West Sea grounds

Silver Croaker

Pennahia argentata

The silvery summer croaker of the West Sea — 보구치. 백조기 is the same fish (the 'white croaker'), and both names are in everyday Korean use. It schools over west-coast sand-mud and is the workhorse of summer boat catches around Mokpo and Gunsan. Delicate and mild, an everyday soup fish.
