Korean Dark Sleeper
Odontobutis platycephala
Korea's own stream sleeper β a broad-headed ambush fish of stony mountain streams that sleeps so soundly on the bottom by day it can nearly be picked up by hand. Endemic to Korea and the standard sleeper of the Han, Geum and Nakdong basins. Take care in the south: dark sleepers there can be the protected Japanese dark sleeper (class-I endangered), so southern catches are best released.
