Saltwater Β· Warm months, late spring through fall; feeds best on rising tides in summer

Spotted Scat

Scatophagus argus

The spotted scat β€” the money fish β€” is the classic pier-wall fish of South China's estuaries, harbours and mangrove edges. SAFETY: its dorsal spines are venomous and a prick is painful β€” handle it with a cloth or pliers and unhook it with great care, never with bare fingers around the fins.
