Utah Chub
Gila atraria
A small native minnow that is the dominant forage fish in many Utah and Wyoming waters. Trout anglers often curse it as a bait-stealing nuisance, but it is a native species and a vital food base for trout, bass and birds β this entry presents it neutrally, as the hardy local it is. It is most often caught incidentally on tiny baits and flies while fishing for trout.
