Spotfin Croaker

Roncador stearnsii

A prized Southern California surf croaker with a golden-bronze sheen and a single black spot at the base of the pectoral fin. It has no chin barbel, which separates it from the California corbina, and it is a classic light-tackle target in the dawn and dusk surf.
